Dance and Fashion: A Timeless Connection

Dance and fashion have always been two arts united by the pursuit of elegance, passion, and beauty. This love story between them endures because dancers' bodies and their posture are considered by designers to be the most suitable for wearing and showcasing their collections.

But that's not all. Many haute couture masters have designed and dressed entire ballet works. Coco Chanel famously designed and clothed the dancers of the "Ballets Russes" company for her friend Diaghilev. Valentino designed a ballet piece for the New York City Ballet, and Dior dressed the Ballet of Rome. We also remember the great master Gianni Versace and his friendship with the renowned choreographer Maurice Béjart, for whom he designed and created the costumes for the ballet "Le Presbytère n'a rien perdu de son charme, ni le jardin de son éclat (Ballet For Life)". Gucci designed and dressed the dance show of the Michael Clark Company. Armani has always been deeply passionate about dance and has involved great dancers like Joaquín Cortés and Sergei Polunin as his spokesmen over the years. "King Giorgio" also dressed the choreographic work "Ballet Revue" by the famous American choreographer John Neumeier. Givenchy created the costumes for Ravel's "Bolero," staged at the Paris Opera, and many other great designers have designed and created clothes for dance or inspired by it.
